Chronic Back & Neck Pain

Classically, any pain that persists more than 3 months is considered chronic, as opposed to acute or subacute. Chronic back and neck pain can also extend to chronic buttock, leg, and arm pain.

Causes

Your chronic pain can have many different causes. It can be generated from…

  • an annular disc tear

  • a disc herniation

  • a disc bulge

  • facet syndrome

  • spinal stenosis

  • disc osteophyte complex

  • spondylolisthesis

  • retrolisthesis

  • a synovial cyst

  • degenerative disc disease

  • atrophy of the spinal muscles

  • muscle spasm

  • a pinched nerve

  • musculoskeletal imbalances

  • neurological imbalances

  • rheumatoid arthritis

  • or ankylosing spondylitis… to name a few!

We utilize the principles of Functional Neurological Orthopedic Rehabilitation (FNOR) to conduct a thorough evaluation to allow us to arrive at an accurate diagnosis and determine the root cause of your pain.

Many of these conditions respond favorably to Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression . Non-surgical spinal decompression allows us to reduce the compressive force on the disc, reducing the size of a disc herniation and restoring normal function to the disc. This can remove the pressure on pinched nerves caused by all of the different disc pathologies that may lead to retrolisthesis, foraminal or spinal stenosis, thereby reducing and eliminating the pain caused by these spinal issues.

In addition, we integrate many other therapies designed to improve strength and mobility to your spine, hips, and neck to reduce the likelihood of re-injury. Noninvasive, non-surgical decompression should always be tried before surgery, after a proper neurological examination has been performed to determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure. In addition, your rehabilitation will include utilizing other specialized services to help restore lost function and you will be taught how to move and work your body again so that it reduces the likelihood of being re-injured.
