If you have muscle and joint pain, or a musculoskeletal problem, you may have what it referred to as an orthopedic condition. In a nutshell, orthopedics is the study and research of the entire musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, nerves, etc).

If you have pain in your:

  • Shoulder

  • Elbow

  • Wrist

  • Hand

  • Hip

  • Knee

  • Ankle

  • or Foot

…you likely have what is termed an orthopedic problem.

When muscles and/or joints are injured, this impacts both

  1. the way the brain receives information from those joints and, in return,

  2. how the brain sends signals back to the joint and its surrounding muscles.

Therefore, all musculoskeletal problems also have a neurological component to them. Any correction of an orthopedic problem will be greatly enhanced by understanding the connection between your brain and muscles / joints to improve rehabilitation. This is why we are extensively trained in Functional Neurological Orthopedic Rehabilitation (FNOR™).

Of course if you’ve broken your arm or fractured your hip, then this will likely require surgery and or stabilization for a period of time before we can get to the important work of rehabilitating you back to your good old self.
